Monitor 

1. Monitor or VDU :-  This is a popular output device providing softcopy. Which displays data and information in the form of video output. By giving information about each and every task to be done on the computer, it establishes a connection between the computer and the user.

Depending on the colors displayed, there can be 3 types of monitors- 
1. Monochrome Monitor : - This monitor displays the display in two colors. The background of the monitor has one color while the object in front has another color.
2. Grayscale Monitor : - This is a form of monochrome monitor. In which many shades are displayed by mixing black and white colors.
3. Color Monitor : - In this three basic colors are used. Red, Green and Blue and other colors are displayed by mixing them. Also called RGB monitor, it can display 16, 32 or 256 colors.

On the basis of technology, monitors are divided into three categories - 
1. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) : - It is a large tube, in which High Voltage Electron beam is controlled. It is like a TV screen.

2. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) : - In this, liquid crystal is filled between two layers. It is mainly used in Laptop, Tablet, Smartphone etc. The display can be achieved by affecting it by voltage. It is thinner, lighter and less power consuming.

3. Light Emitting Diode (LED) : - In this type of monitor, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) is used. which displays a digital display. Its resolution and refresh rate are better.
