Printer

Printer is a machine that converts the output displayed on the computer screen to paper. It is an output device providing hardcopy or permanent copy. It is used to print text, graphics and images on paper.

The quality of a printer is known by its resolution. It tells the number of dots located in a square inch which is called DPI. The printer is connected to the USB or Parallel port of the CPU.

Classification of Printer

according to print capacity

Character Printer :- It prints only one line at a time.

Line Printer :- This printer prints a complete line at a time. Hence its printing speed is very fast (200 to 2000 lines per minute).

Page Printer : - This printer prints a complete page at a time.

Impact Printer : - This type of printer makes loud noises while printing. This printer is not suitable for Graphics Printing. Able to print only on paper. Printing can be done in only one color with these printers.

Dot Matrix Printer :- It is an impact printer so it makes a lot of noise while printing. The print head of this printer consists of a matrix of many pins. And a dot is printed by touching the ribbon and paper of each pin, many dots together to form a character. Print Head has a horizontal group of 7, 9, 14, 18 or 24 pins. The pins of one column at a time exit the print head and print dots. Due to which a character is formed in several steps and the print head moves forward in the direction of the line. The speed of Dot Matrix Printer is 30-600 characters per second.

Daisy Wheel Printer : - This is an Impact Printer with a solid currency letter. It was named Daisy Wheel Printer because the shape of its print head resembles that of a flower "Daisy". It is a slow printer but the clarity of its output is high, so it is used for printing letters etc. Its print head has a wheel with a character embossed in each spoke, the wheel moves in the horizontal direction of the paper and When the spoke wheel of the printable character spins into print position, a small hammer strikes the spoke, ribbon, and paper, causing the letter to be printed on the paper.

Non-Impact Printer : - These types of printers make very little noise while printing, these printers are used in good graphics printers, these printers can print on plastic and other surfaces besides paper. These printers print only one at a time, and can also do multicolor printing.

Thermal Printer : - This is a technology in which letters can be printed from paper IJ wax based ribbon, the print done by this printer does not stay for a long time. Generally these printers are used in ATM machines.

Inkjet Printer : - This is a non-impact printer, in which characters and graphics are printed by spraying ink on the paper from a nozzle, the output of this printer is very clear because its characters are formed by many dots. In color printers. The ink has four nozzles, Cyan, Magenta Yellow and Key(Black). That's why it is also called CMYK Printer and these four colors together can produce any color. Therefore, they are used in all types of color printing.

Laserjet Printer : - Laserjet Printer is being used in computer systems since the 1970s. It is able to print text and graphics in relatively fast and high quality, this printer also prints on paper through dots, but these dots are very small and very close because they are printed very clearly. Cartridge is used in this printer, inside which ink powder is filled. The working method of a laser printer is basically like a photocopy machine in which bright light is used.
