The output received by the computer can be divided into two parts-
1. Softcopy Output
2. Hardcopy Output
1. Softcopy Output :- This is a temporary output, which we cannot touch. Soft copy output is in digital form, which we cannot read and view without computer or proper software. Softcopy output is stored in electronic memory and can be sent from one place to another on the network. It is easy to edit the softcopy output. This saves paper and ink. The output presented by the monitor and speaker are examples of softcopy output.
2. Hardcopy Output :- This is the permanent result presented on the paper which we can touch. Hardcopy Output can be seen and read even without computer and software. Changing it is not easy either. The output presented by Printer and Plotter are examples of Hardcopy Output.
Some of the major output devices are as follows-
1) Monitor or VDU (Visual Display Unit)
2) Printer
3) Plotter
4) Speaker
5) Card Reader
6) Tape Reader
7) Projector
