Application Software
this is a group of programs that are designed for a specific task. this software is developed as per the requirement by looking at the institute, person or work. this system coordinates between software and the user. the app coordinates between software and the user. the development of app software is made keeping in mind a particular operating system. the app software can only work on backgrounds created by the operating system.
based on the utility, the app software is divided into two parts:
A. Specialized App Software - It is created keeping in mind the user's special needs. It is not useful to anyone else. Examples - software ready for railway reservation, software ready for aircraft control, software ready for weather analysis etc.
B. General App Software - It is designed for special needs but many users can benefit from it. Microsoft Office, Web Browser, Media Player, CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) etc. are examples of common app software.
some examples of general app software -
1. Word Processing software - This software is used by the computer to prepare Text document, modify them, change its appearance and size, check grammar or spelling, print, etc.
the software provides some other facilities besides offering the computer as an alternative to typewriters. it is easy to correct mistakes in word processing software. at the same time, text are stored digitally and can be transferred to the network in the same way.
2. Spreadsheet Program - It mainly classifies and analyzes statistical data as table i.e. row and column. It also has the facility of making graphs and charts. It is mainly used for laser making in banks and business establishments.
3. Database Software - It is used to store, modify and classify data.
4. Presentation software - Information is presented in conference meetings etc. using this software.
5. Accounting Package - It facilitates various financial accounting business transactions and goods management. Tally is a popular Accounting package made in India.
6. Desktop Publishing - It uses computers and its affiliates for publishing purposes. Some popular DTP software - MS Publisher, Adobe Pagemaker, Corel Draw.
7. Graphics Software - It can be used by the computer to create, modify and print graphs, pictures and sketches etc. Adobe Photoshop is a popular graphics software.
8. CAD Software - It involves computer engineering and scientific design preparation, modification and understanding of the process of construction. AutoCAD and Autodesk are examples of CAD software.
