The Fourth Generation of Computers (1976-1989)
Micro Processor |
1. Microprocessors were used in fourth generation computers. LSI (Large Scale Integration) and VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) increased the efficiency of microprocessors.
2. The computation time of the computer was measured in Pico Second - ps. (1 Pico second = 1/1 trillionth second )
3. The use of microprocessors made it possible to develop extremely small and handheld computers.
4. Due to multitasking, the computer started being used for many tasks simultaneously.
5. Microprocessor was developed by ME Hoff in 1971. This led to the development of the personal computer.
6. Magnetic disks and tapes were replaced by semiconductor memory. With the increase in the capacity of RAM, the work became very fast.
7. High-speed computer networks such as LAN and WAN were developed.
8. The practice of parallel computing and multimedia started.
9. In 1981, IBM developed the microcomputer. Which was called - PC (Personal Computer).
10. The development of Graphical User Interface in software simplified the use of computers.
11. Operating systems include MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows (MS Windows), and the Apple operating system (Apple OS).
12. High level language standardized so that a program can be run on all computers.
13. "C Language" was developed in a high level language. In which programming was simple.
