The Fifth Generation of Computer (1990-Present )

Super Computer

1. ULSI (Ultra Large Scale Integration) and SLSI (Super Large Scale Integration) led to the development of microprocessor chips containing millions of electronic devices. 
2. This led to the development of very small and handheld computers whose computing power is very fast and high. 
3. Due to multimedia and animation, computer started being used extensively for education and entertainment etc. 
4. The development of the Internet and social media made possible a revolutionary change in the way people exchanged information and communicated with each other. 
5. Optical discs such as CDs, DVDs, or Blu ray discs were developed for storage. Whose storage capacity was extremely high. 
6. The speed of computer processors was made extremely fast by connecting two processors together and parallel processing. 
7. Internet, E-mail, and WWW (WWW- World Wide Web) developed in the field of networking. 
8. The concept of Information Technology and Information Highway developed. 
9. Efforts are underway to put artificial intelligence in new computers. So that the computer can make its own decisions according to the circumstances. It is being used in Speech Recognition and Robotics. 
10. Magnetic bubble memory and desktop PCs connected computers to almost every walk of life.
